We have joined forces with NorthumberlandDurham and Tees Valley Wildlife Trusts and the Great North Museum: Hancock to launch this prestigious competition for 2015, which is kindly being supported by Nestle and Alan Hewitt Photography.

The competition is now open for entries until 10th May 2015, so there is still time to get out there and capture the best of the North East’s wildlife.


Competition Categories

1. Wildlife Portraits – photos that capture the character, essence or traits of a species.
2. Wildlife in Action – photos that capture wildlife behaviour and action (e.g. feeding or hunting).


3. Wildlife in the Landscape – photos that show wildlife in its habitat, landscape or setting.
4. Nature Up Close – close-up or macro photographs of botanical subjects, insects and other wildlife.
5. Mobile Nature – photos of animal or botanical subjects taken with a mobile phone or tablet device.
6. Young Person’s – photos of animal or botanical subjects taken by anyone aged 16 or under.

The Overall Winner will receive:

  • £250 and a framed A3 copy of their picture courtesy of Digital Lab.

All of the prize-winning images will be displayed at the Great North Museum: Hancock during the summer of 2015 and then on tour around the region. In previous years the winning images have also been featured in local newspapers and magazines.
