Launch of Adult Education Courses

17th August 2009

The Natural History Society of Northumbria is delighted to announce the launch of its own adult education classes, starting in October 2009. The brainchild of former Head of Adult Education at the University of Newcastle and current Society Trustee Dr Angus Lunn, the courses fill an important gap in Naturalist education in the North East.

The majority of courses will be held in the Society’s Council room on the second floor of the Great North Museum: Hancock. Most include field visits to relevant sites of interest.

Lecturers involved with leading the courses in addition to Dr Angus Lunn are, the Society Secretary and ornithologist David Noble-Rollin, Trustee and leading lichenologist Dr Janet Simkin, geologist Ken Paterson and Bewick expert Dr Peter Quinn.

Chairman Peter Davis says:

“This is an exciting development for the Society, synergistic of our new outlook. It fits well with our aim of encouraging the study of natural history, and we are pleased to be able to offer this service to our members.”

We recommend that you book early to avoid disappointment.
