Sick of dabbling with duck identification? Want to dive in a little deeper? Why not sign up for a new course looking at the identification of this often tricky group.
This two-day course concentrates on dabbling ducks, diving ducks and the sawbills. Topics include how they live, where they breed, where you might see them and identification, with particular emphasis on the problematical ‘brown ones’.
Field trips will visit the nearby Rainton wetlands and Joe’s Ponds to deal with some of the issues relating to ducks, their lifestyles and identification. Attendees will need to bring binoculars and/or a scope.
Please note that indoor sessions will take place at Rainton Meadows, Durham Wildlife Trust, DH4 6PU.
More information about Rainton Meadows reserve can be found here: https://durhamwt.com/reserves/rainton-meadows-nature-reserve/
ACCESSIBILITY NOTE: We will be aiming for two field trips on each date, covering a distance of up to 1.5km on foot.
Cost: £75 (Concessions £70)
