Botany at Smardale Gill

This Cumbria Wildlife Trust Reserve near Kirby Stephen is a wooded gill accessed along an old railway. It has a very rich flora, including herb Paris Paris quadrifolia, common wintergreen Pyrola minor, greater butterfly-orchid Platanthera chlorantha, stone bramble Rubus saxatilis and alpine bistort Persicaria vivipara.
