The library at the Great North Museum: Hancock is currently displaying a free exhibition by artist Dr Michele Allen on philanthropy, titled ‘A Brief Compendium of Named and Unnamed Objects’. Michele has been working with our archivist, June Holmes, and other institutions to produce a handmade book and a series of photographs exploring the legacy of philanthropy in North East England. The exhibition showcases her work alongside some of our archival material, and one of the two books Michele made has been donated to our archive.
Full details about the project and ideas behind it can be found in our ‘Archive News’ here. The exhibition runs from 27 January – 03 March and can be viewed during the library opening hours, Mon-Fri 10-5pm.
