This course will provide participants with the opportunity to ‘get a handle’ on how bird song works and how to begin to identify birds by their song. Classroom activities will explain what song is and what it does, the difference between calls and song, and a little bit of the science behind bird song.
Through evening and dawn ‘song sessions’, participants will gain practical experience with how bird song works in different habitats and to start the process of identifying birds from their song and calls. The first day of the course will commence with an indoor class in the afternoon, followed by bird listening into the evening. This will be followed by a 6am start on Sunday 19th, to listen to morning bird song.
Please note that indoor sessions will take place at Blaydon Youth & Community Centre.
