Coronavirus and NHSN

Look out for films, talks, digital events, and publications to inspire you in the natural world whilst you stay safe close to home.

Last updated Monday 28 September

Your wellbeing is our priority.  Your NHSN team are busy working for you from home whilst the office in the Great North Museum: Hancock remains closed.

While your regular NHSN indoor and outdoor activities are suspended tempoarily, you can still be inspired by the natural world and we have some ideas for you.

Keep in touch

Join us on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram for updates and North East nature findings.

You can also contact us at nhsn@ncl.ac.uk. If you need to hear a friendly voice, leave a message on our answerphone, or email us your details, and we’ll call you back.

Nature Talks

Since 1829, NHSN’s Nature Talks have shared the latest news and research from the environmental field. Discover the new programme here.

Notes from a Lockdown Naturalist

Help capture a moment in time by contributing your notes of a lockdown naturalist. We want to capture your Notes from a Lockdown Naturalist; a snapshot of your thoughts and reflections. You could write a short paper, create some art, compose a poem. It’s up to you.

Gosforth Nature Reserve

Gosforth Nature Reserve is now open for NHSN members. Events and access for non-members are not yet available to help limit contact between visitors and volunteers.

To stay safe and ensure you have a great visit, please read the temporary visitor information available on our website. Please observe social distancing at all times when visiting the reserve.

You can also help us explore ideas for wilding the neighbouring areas. Take part by completing our survey.

We’ve been creating a new compilation of North East nature videos for you to enjoy.
