Do you know someone obsessed with North East nature? Perhaps they enjoy birdwatching or astronomy, are fascinated by insects, or simply enjoy a quiet, wildlife-fuelled walk in a quaint English woodland. If this is the case, why not buy them the perfect gift this festive period - a year's membership of NHSN!
Thanks to a generous bequest from the Dickinson family we provide small grants to help NHSN members carry out natural history projects.
The North East is home to a vast array of fascinating invertebrates. NHSN members play an important role in recording and monitoring insect species in Northumberland, Tyne & Wear and County Durham.
NHSN publishes North East Nature magazine three times a year to keep members up-to-date with the latest happenings in natural history in North East England. This full-colour publication is delivered to all our members and can also be downloaded from the Members Area.
The Northumbrian Naturalist (known as the Transactions until 2009) has been published by NHSN since 1831. This journal contains scientific papers, research and observations about the natural world of Northumbria and is the only journal of its kind in the North East.
Nature writing, news and informative articles from naturalists across North East England
Whether you are young or old, an expert or a beginner, NHSN provides opportunities for everyone to get involved, make new friends and learn about the natural world. Throughout the year there is an action-packed programme of indoor and outdoor activities.
